Data
The GoM-EFS model outputs for the entire Gulf of Mexico are provided in NetCDF format. The NetCDF files can be accessed from the Deep-C ftp server at ftp://deep-c.org/pub/gom-efs/nowcasts/ and ftp://deep-c.org/pub/gom-efs/forecasts/.
The naming of these files follows the scheme:
MODEL_his_DOMAIN_YYYY-MM-DD_HH:MN:SC.nc, where
MODEL: is one of atm, ocn, wav, sed
DOMAIN: is the computational domain string, d01, d02, ...
YYYY: is the four digit year
MM: is the month of the year
DD: is the day of the month
HH: is the hour of the day
MN: is the minute of the hour
SC: always 00
There are two versions of the NetCDF files for each model:
- MODEL_his_DOMAIN* that contain the data in geographical (latitude/longitude) coordinates (earth radius = 6371001.0 m)
- MODEL_his_geo_DOMAIN* that contain the data in geodetic (latitude/longitude) coordinates (based on the WGS84 ellipsoid, earth semi-major axis = 6378137.0 m, earth semi-minor axis = 6356752.31414 m). Complete explanation of the data can be found in the NetCDF files' metadata.
Deep-C was a four-year, interdisciplinary study of deep sea to coast connectivity in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico.Deep-C is no longer an active research project. The information on this website is for historical reference purposes only.
